Work in progress pt 10

Alex looked thoughtful for a moment, then smiled at Ruth. ”You know what Ruth, I think they’re right.” He took a deep breath and launched into tale once again.

Arran grumbled as he stood at the cross roads at the edge of the little village. He stared off to the east, then the west, then turned north. The city of Werton lay many weeks down that road. It was a vast city with many wonders. Merchants, bards, and travelers passed in and out of its gates daily.
“Surely, it must be a town of great wisdoms, anything and everything can be bought or sold there. The brightest tapestries, finest gold, clearest gems. It is the home of the King of the Land. The wise man I’m searching for is surely in the employment of the King. Clearly, I am needed of the King. That lowly, money grubbing witch just doesn’t know Heroic Blood when it is before her eyes” He shouldered his meager bag of belongings and headed down his long path. He paid no attention to a notice board recently set up on the side of the road. It held many notices upon it. One rather larger one stating,
Warning!
All Travelers Beware!
The coastal trade cities Carlong, Guldwen,
Sagfer, and Werton are suffering from a devastating epidemic.
Stay clear from these locations until further notice!
